Primaries are Strange
Author: Stan Deatherage | Published: April 18th, 2010
And you could lose your true conservative voice - Commissioner Stan Deatherage's (mine) - on the Beaufort County Commission. All it takes is a greater propensity of more liberal voters leaning, once again, to the left and voting out the very people, who actually do pay close attention to things like: county budgets, the education of children, the elimination of narcotics in our communities, prudent economic development, the wise and effective allocation of mandated services, and the elimination of the unwise public funding to these liberal's pet projects.
This is what I do. I show up. I pay close attention to the machinations of our local government, and I always vote for prudent measures and against wrong-headed governing that would plunge our local government further into the abyss of apathy, that was once the nature and the direction of the Beaufort County Commission.
Since I was first elected in 1994, I have kept a keen eye on our expenditures, and a conservative voice against those politicians, whoever they may be, who would subvert the intent of out founding fathers to remake Beaufort County, and our nation, into a Socialist Democracy that would take more and more from the productive to give to nonproductive, just so these other selfish politicians can trade your hard work to gain their weak and pathetic vote in every election.
My comments may evoke a strain of extreme cynicism, but this is the way it is - the way I see it at least. This is not just election year banter, this is who I am and how I intend to continue to govern: To cry out when I see this inequity of allocation of your tax dollars, and to stop it whenever I can muster the votes to so. I am unwavering in my determined efforts, and I do have my political enemies to show for it: Democrats and some few Republicans alike,
That is why I need your vote. That is why I need your family member's and your friends' vote in the upcoming primary election. Stranger things have happened, and I could lose in this primary election if we do not get a strong conservative turnout.
Others, who want to forever change America, and Beaufort County, to a Socialist Democracy are counting me losing. At the most recent Democrat County Convention, I was mentioned by name, by Chairman Alice Mills Sadler, as the one who should lose his seat on the Beaufort County Commission. Now that's a news flash: Liberal Democrats want me to lose our conservative seat. They want to silence our conservative, freedom loving voice. They know that they can use Beaufort County's Limited Voting, which a full slate of Democrat elected Board of County Commissioners installed in 1991, to beat me / us if we water down the vote, by voting for other Republican candidates, in this upcoming primary.
Since 1994 (when I ws first elected), and having grown in my determined knowledge as your political advocate, I am proud to have been your consistent vessel to communicate your hope for a more effective, limited government that will allow you the freedoms granted to you by the Almighty - not by man. Not by politicians. Not by their bureaucrats. These are your freedoms. But to sustain them, you must fight to keep them. This time you only need to vote.
If you truly espouse to be a freedom loving, productive provider and tax payer, I pray that you have the knowledge to know that I am your humble servant, and that I have fought that fight for you every chance I am called to do so. Today, I ask you to help me to continue that fight: To continue as your consistent conservative, freedom loving voice.
